New Member Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Sylvia Castaneda & I've been doing my family's geneology research for about 20 years on and off. I've made the most progress in the last 6 years with my father's paternal line. He is a descendent of Antonio de Castaneda from Tlaltenango, Zacatecas. Specifically from Rancho el Durazno, which currently is located in the municipality of Atolinga, Zacatecas. He's also connected with Covarrubias, Lopez, de Avila, & Salinas from local ranchos currently located in the aforementioned municipality & Mendoza from Bolanos, Jalisco & Robles from Tlalcozahua, Huejucar, Jalisco. Also researching my father's maternal Gonzalez & Torres line which is concentrated in Tepechitlan & El Teul de Gonzales Ortega, Zacatecas. Although, I've been researching my maternal line as well, is not as developed. Llamas & Marquez are the surnames of her paternal line concentrated in Tlaltenango & Momax, Zacatecas. Her father was Benigno Llamas, municipal president of Tlaltenango during 2 separate terms. In addition, her maternal line includes Canes of Sonora & Solis of Jalisco, which I've had very little luck finding.

I'm looking forward to this new journey with you all. And...I'm super excited to see that Arturo Ramos is a member of this group. I purchased his book last year & I must say it's a godsend.

I've included a link to my folder which includes The Descendants of Antonio de Castaneda. (It is in Spanish because when I think of my ancestors I think in Spanish.) Again, mil gracias for this opportunity.

    Hi Sylvia,
Welcome to Nuestros Ranchos. Hopefully you will be able to make more progress. You'll find this is a very open and helpful community, where sharing information is built into the DNA.

I am interested to find out where your search of your Maternal Gonzalez line leads. I have a direct link to Teul in my paternal Gonzalez line (Simon Gonzalez b~1830), and I suspect other links to Tlaltenango via a distant (possible) great-grandmother Efigenia Gonzalez Llamas b~1701.

Simon Gonzalez Casillas married Valeriana Gonzalez Castro in 1865. Valeriana was born in 28 Apr 1834 to Juan Isidro Gonzalez Miramontes and Bonificia Castro Valera. The farthest I can track Valeriana's Gonzalez line is to Juan Gonzalez (b~1650) married to Cecilia Sandoval:
    http://www.arturogonzalez.com/OurFamilies/persons/person2799.html

I am not aware of Simon being related to Valeriana. He was born in La Villita near Jalpa to Jose Maria Gonzalez and Juliana Casillas. He seems to be the only Gonzalez from my paternal line that moved to El Teul.

But as many of Simon's ancestors had connections to Tlaltenango and El Teul, it is likely that there are family links that I haven't identified. For instance, one that keeps me scratching my head is the marriage of Alejo "Covarrubias" and Efigenia Gonzalez Llamas on 12 Dec 1723 in Tlaltenango (Simon's great-grandfather). For some reason, Alejo said his natural father was Vicente Covarrubias (mother: Catarina Venegas) in the wedding investigation, but not at the wedding ("padres no conocidos") , then "Gonzalez" at his first daughter's baptism, and then at a later date he states his father was Sebastian Gonzalez (mother Catarina Venegas). Did he say his father was Vicente Covarrubias to avoid having to get a dispensation because he was related to Efigenia Gonzalez Llamas?? I have yet to find the marriage of Joseph Gonzalez and Juana Llamas Robles (daughter of Nicolas Llamas and Magdalena Robles) to help answer this question. All this to say that you and I seem to share similar last names in the same general area, so there might be a connection or two to uncover.

    Best of luck!

They're both mine. :-) This one is the son (jr) of the Gregorio I mentioned. I'm not sure about Severa Gonzales, however. I was never able to find papers for Juan, but I found marriage and other kids for Julio de Jesus and Maria Monica del Refugio.

    Nicolas Llamas & Magdalena Robles

    Laura,
The information means something to me!
According to my information Nicolas Llamas and Magdalena Robles were born around 1650 since their daughter Juana Llamas Robles was born on 26 Jan 1671. Juana married Joseph Gonzalez, and their daughter Efigenia Gonzalez Llamas was born 1701, according to Efigenia's marriage investigation (Tlaltenango Informacion Matrimonial 1701-1724, Film 443843, Image 466).

Do you know when Rafael Llamas Robles was born?

The children that I have for "my" Nicolas Llamas and Magdalena are:
    Dorotea Llamas Robles
    Mariana Luisa Gertrudis Llamas Robles
    Nicolas Llamas Robles
    Rosa Maria Llamas Robles
    Mateo Llamas Robles
    Juana Llamas Robles
    Isabel Llamas Robles

Nicolas' death is recorded on 20 Jun 1718 in Tlatlenango Burials 1718, Film 443978, Image 165.

I'm also connected to Nicolas & Magdalena thru Gaspar Sandoval Guzman, who married Mariana Luisa Gertrudis Llamas Robles.

Do you know who the parents of Joaquin Gonzales are?

    New member introduction

    Hello,

My name is Paige and I'm a new member. I'm interested in learning about my grandmother and great grandmother's family from Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes. I'm not sure where to begin. I've realized over the last several days reading posts that everyone here is far more advanced than I am. I know very little other than what I learned from my great grandmother. I know her parents are Pablo Villalobos and Pilar Ortiz that were married in El Paso, Texas on November 23rd, 1921. Pablo Villalobos was born in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes on March 22nd, 1891 and Pablo Villalobos parents are Onofre Villalobos and Juana Torres from Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes. I apologize I don't have more information. My great grandmother told me that Juana Torres's mother was named Filomena, I don't know her last name. She also told me that she thinks Onofre's father was named Zenon Villalobos. If anyone has any tips that might assist me or if you may be related to any of these families please le
    t me know.

Thank you and I apologize I couldn't provide more information,

    Paige

    Paige Herrera request for help

    Paige,

First of all, welcome to the group.
I did a basic search on familysearch.org and found the marriage information for Onofre Villalobos & Juana Torres .... here is the link https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JHLX-F7H

    Groom: Onofre Villalobos
    Bride: Juana Torres
    marriage dated 11 feb 1885
groom’s parents: Zenon Villalobos & Librada Medina
bride’s parents: Narciso Torres & Filomena Hernandez

I don’t know if you have any experience using FamilySearch.org ... it is really a very good source of information. I will try to find the original document on-line for the record on the link I’m sending you.

Welcome to the group, I also have Antonio de Castaneda, but on my maternal side. He would be my 8th Great Grandfather. I saw your link and we share the Castaneda last name up until Rosalia Castaneda (born 1745 in Tlaltenango)my 5th Great Grandmother.

    Introduction

    Greetings,
My name is Thomas Huizar and I have been trying to research my grandfather's lineage for several years now. He has passed since 1969 so it's difficult to obtain much information. Most of my information has come from my uncles and some from Ancestry.com.

My grandfather's name is Aniceto Huizar Miramontes and he is from Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico. Some records indicate Cartagenas, Jalisco, Mexico as well. I know that those two areas are next to each other. My grandfather married Isaac Molina in 1930 (Pasadena, Ca. USA). His father's name was Rumualdo Huizar Dias. Rumualdo's father's name was Feliciano Huizar and he was married to Silvana Dias.

Since I've joined this group, I learned that my great-great-grandfather/mother Felicano Huizar and Silvana Dias had several children (Rumualdo Huizar b.-1862, Victoriana
Huizar b.-1863, Paula Huizar b.-1864, Jose Merced Huizar b.-1870, Abundio Huizar b.-1876, Maria Serferina Huizar b.-1878, and Cecilia Huizar.

Looking forward with sharing and exchanging information with you all.

    Hi and welcome!

I have Castanedas in my family as well, but a different line. It's such a bummer to read there's a new Castaneda and then find it's not the same one. :-(
