Still Trouble with Family Search

    Help!!

I'm still having issues with Family Search. I'm accessing it the way I've always accesed it to the state of Zacatecas. I was looking at film # 226688, bautismos de Nochistlan, 1894-1896, Volumen # 66. I viewed and extracted data from image # 336, page # 524, item # 1 and then I used the arrow for the next 3 pages and after that it began with loading image, the image loaded and then it vanished. I tried another film# 226689 and the same thing occured.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks,
    Alicia

    Still Trouble with Family Search

    Hi Alicia,

I haven't had that problem, but can you tell where Santa Maria De Los Angles, Jalisco films can be found online? I have viewed all of the towns for Jalisco, but did not find a listing for S.M. de Los Angeles?

I have a print out for a Jose Trinidad Corvera Gonzalez bapt. 21 Nov 1846 from the above noted parish...Batch C611043 Film # 1158275, and I wanted to view the actual document in hopes that it mentioned the AP and AM.

It's wonderful having the capability to view many of these films online...especially for those of us that have limited access to a Family History Center.

    Thank you,
    Pat Silva Corbera

    Patricia,

I found the image by going to Search - US, Canada, Mexico --- then clicking on Mexico Jalisco Church Records, then Santa Maria de Los Angeles on the list of cities, then to the parish. From there I went to page 89 I think and started looking for the image.

The image is very blurry and my eyesight is so bad, but I could make out that the paternal grandparents were Vicente Corvera, and B--?--la Marquez. The maternal grandparents were
Cesario [?] Gonzales and Demetria Aleman.

    Hi Emilie,

Thank you for helping...I think that maybe I'm not on the correct version for viewing all of the Jalisco films...here's what I did and what came up...

Search - US, Canada, Mexico --> Mexico, Catholic Church Records-->Jalisco-->Nombre de Ciudad/Paublo--> listed are the following cities: Colotlan, Huejuquilla el Alto, Huejucar, Los Aquajes, Mezquitic and Refugio...for each city the following parishes are listed...but nothing for S. M. de Los Angeles.

Colotlan --> Parroquia is San Luis Obispo
Huejuquilla el Alto --Inmaculada and San Diego
Huejucar -- San Francisco de Asis
    Los Aguajes --San Jose
    Mezquitic -- San Juan Bautista
    Refugio -- Momax, Zacatecas

I wonder if it's the same situation that Alicia was having with Zacatecas, Nochistlan...I think it was Armando that pointed out that maybe she was using a version prior to the discontinuation of the Pilot program...

    Thank you,
    Pat Silva Corbera

    Pat,

That was me that made the suggestion about Zacatecas but in this case you
are definitely in the wrong place. When you go to Search - US, Canada,
    Mexico there will be a
Mexico, Jalisco, Catholic Church Records that address is -
    https://www.familysearch.org/search/image/show#uri=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.fa…

The address for Santa María de los Angeles is

Santa María de los Ángeles, Jalisco.

With all the help I've received from our dear Nuestros Ranchos' primos y primas I now know exactly what I did wrong...I stopped when I came upon Mexico Catholic Church Records, but should have scanned down further and clicked on the listing for Jalisco Church Records on the main entry page.

Gosh! talk about not "seeing the forest because all the trees are in the way," certainly applies to me in this situation... ;-)

    Thank you Dear Friends!

    Hi, Patricia,

No, don't go to Mexico Catholic Church Records. Some of the states are not in that category, they have their own down farther on the list below where it says Mexico Catholic Church Records to where it says Mexico Jalisco Church Records or something like that. I think Alicia knows that Zacatecas is still one of the states that is listed under the general Mexico Catholic Church Records.

As for links in Favorites to parts of Family Search, I don't add them to my Favorites because sometimes they don't work.

    Emilie,

Thank you so much for all your help, as well as the other Nuestros Ranchos' members.
I'm now in the correct place for viewing the Jalisco films.

    Still Trouble with Family Search

    Hello Alicia,

When they did away with the Pilot search they also changed the URLs (website
addresses) to the films. If you are using the same addresses as a few months
ago that might be your problem.
Try this link for Zacatecas and let us know if it works for you,

    Still Trouble with Family Search

    Alicia,

Did the link below work for you? I tried doing what you did with the pages for Nochistlan, 1894-1896 and I had no trouble going from page to page. I never save links to the particular films, I just start with going to Search-- Mexican Catholic Church Records, then clicked on the state of Zacatecas, then the city, then the parish, and proceed to look for the pages with the dates I need. I have no trouble using Family Search for images or indexes unless I am on when they decide to temporarily bring down the system to update it. Sometimes a message will appear to try again later, but not always.

So, it could be that if you are trying to use an old link on Favorites, that might be the problem, or could it be the version of browser and version of Windows you use? I was told that the latest IE 9 version works well only with Windows Vista. I have IE8 with Windows XP and everything works fine.

    Still Trouble with Family Search

Thanks everyone for your input. I know I wasn't using an old link. I had just cleaned out the cache and all cookies. I have Windows 7 and I just completed updating my machine. I'm going to try Armando's link and will let you know if I'm succesful in re-entering the family search site.

I sure appreciate all of you, Emilie, Armando and Pat and everyone always willing to jump in and help!

Gracias, y muy agradecida al foro por su apoyo, como siempre!!

    Still Trouble with Family Search

I emailed them and this is the answer I got...hope it helps...I just installed firefox and use that instead...works fine for me now.

If this regards Indexing, please advise.
If you are on a 64bit version of Vista or Windows 7 make certain you are not using the 64bit version of Internet Explorer, rather that you are using the normal 32bit version. Flash and many other add-ons do not work on the 64bit version.
Sometimes, the installation of Flash Player can become corrupt. It may need to be uninstalled and then reinstalled.

That should work. I realized after I made my suggestion about the link that
I have had the Adobe Flash Player crash on me and cause me to lose the image
in my browser.and that sounds more like what was happening to you, although
with me there would be a message telling me what caused the problem. Since
you were using a different browser it's probably why you didn't get the
crash message. I use Firefox also.
